No Change At The Bottom

The U's remained as they were in twenty-first place in the League One table this weekend with none of the bottom five teams in action due to the adverse weather conditions.

Of course, the U's game at Hartlepool was postponed yesterday, whilst Portsmouth, Bury and Scunthorpe all saw their games called off as well, with Portsmouth due to visit Scunthorpe's Glanford Park in another six-pointer for the Iron.

Just above those bottom five, Oldham and Shrewsbury both lost their games, Oldham falling to a 2-1 win at a resurgent Coventry City whilst Shrewsbury's trip to Swindon was a fruitless one.

Elsewhere in League One, Tranmere continued to hold their own at the top of the division by impressively snatching a 2-1 win at in-form Brentford.

Walsall, who are now flying with six wins in seven since they took on the U's before Christmas made it so by comfortably brushing Bournemouth aside 3-1, despite losing Febian Brandy to a red card.

The Saddlers provide the next test for Joe Dunne's side in what is looking like an increasingly difficult fixture, even without Brandy in their side who scored the all-important solitary goal of that 1-0 defeat at the Bescot in December.

Doncaster continued to show their promotion credentials by winning 2-0 against Leyton Orient, and Notts County came back from a goal behind to share the spoils at Meadow Lane against Sheffield United, who were backed by a travelling army of over 3,000 Blades.
