Dunne Misses Out On Jones
The Daily Gazette has reported this morning that the U's boss Joe Dunne has missed out on one of his January transfer targets.
Daniel Jones, a 26-year-old left back who was recently released by Sheffield Wednesday, is understood to have been on the U's radar, with Dunne hoping to make a move for him in the past week.
However Jones, who has made nine appearances for Wednesday in the Championship this season, has instead opted to join League Two promotion-chasers Port Vale, who are led by former U's assistant manager, Micky Adams.
Jones spent five years at Wolves with loan spells to Northampton, Oldham, Notts County and Bristol Rovers before signing a three-year deal at Hillsborough.
Left-back is clearly an area that Dunne is looking to strengthen, having previously drafted in Dan Potts from West Ham earlier in the season.
