U's midfielder John-Joe O'Toole has extended his stay with Bristol Rovers for a further two months, with his loan deal in the West Country now running up until April 2nd.
O'Toole linked up with ex-U's boss John Ward at the beginning of January for an initial month, and has been a hit down at the Memorial Stadium.
He bagged his first goal for the club in their victory at Fleetwood and, only last week, Joe Dunne confirmed the combative midfielder was permitted to remain there.
'We try and play in a certain way, and John-Joe has been working hard to play that way in training,' he said at the time. 'He's got another year with us and he's fine where he is. He won't be getting that regular football with me at the moment.'
O'Toole always seemed receptive to the idea of extending his loan spell, as well as confirming that Ward was keen on the idea.
John-Joe admitted: 'John Ward has mentioned about extending it but I'll see what happens.
'It's quite a big decision for me so I'll have to weigh things up a bit and speak to Joe Dunne about it, but I just want to be playing.'
It has been confirmed by John Ward that there is a twenty-four hour recall clause as stipulated by the U's, but it would appear to confirm that John-Joe's future lies away from Essex.
