Pentney Departs U's
Carl Pentney, regular understudy to Mark Cousins for the U's this season, has left the club by mutual consent.
Carl has never made an appearance in his time with the U's, previously playing his football in loan spells away from the club, such as at Hayes & Yeading and Chelmsford City.
However, following the departure of Ben Williams in the summer, Carl stepped up as the U's number two and took his place on the bench for much of this season.
The writing has been on the wall though, with the loan arrivals of both John Sullivan and Sam Walker in between the sticks this year, with Joe Dunne suggesting at the time that Mark Cousins needed better competition than Pentney would supply.
It also indicated a lack of faith that Carl would be able to step in for Mark, instead requiring the swift arrival of loanees.
Speaking the official website, Dunne confirmed that it was time for Carl to be playing first team football.
