Coker Also Released

Ben Coker has become the latest player to depart from Joe Dunne's new-look U's squad, following Tom Aldred, Carl Pentney, Michael Rose, Ian Henderson and Tom Bender in having their contracts cancelled.

Ben has struggled to win a place in the matchday squad this season, let alone the starting eleven, starting just two games and appearing as an unused substitute on only one occasion.

Originally arriving as a tricky left winger from Bury Town under former boss John Ward, Ben reverted to full-back and made his debut live on Sky Sports in a victory over Bournemouth.

He went on to make a further forty-four appearances for the U's and will be hoping to tie himself down somewhere else shortly.

Despite showing much attacking promise, Ben appeared to lose that edge to his game when he was kept at the back. Perhaps he would have been better off on the left wing, and it is a shame to see his undoubted potential currently unfulfilled.
