Fond Memories For Byrom
Ahead of Saturday's game when Graham Westley brings his Preston side down to Essex, the Lilywhites' midfielder Joel Byrom has said that the game gives them the opportunity to form a winning run.
The 26-year-old midfielder signed for North End in the summer by following Westley from Stevenage, having bagged nine goals for the Hertfordshire club.
One of those goals came at the Weston Homes Community Stadium as his last side thumped the U's 6-1 and, understandably, Byrom holds fond memories.
'I've played at Colchester before and have some good memories there from a good result,' he told the official website.
'It's a long trip down there, but we'll prepare properly and go down on Friday to get ready, as it's a good chance to get a winning run going.'
After a spell on the bench, Byrom has started the last two games for Westley's side and, coming into the game off the back of a mixed bag of results, North End will be hoping to gain some consistency in forming a good run.
Indeed, the Lancashire side have only won one of their last twelve heading into the fixture, with those three points arriving at the hands of basement-side, Hartlepool United.
However, Byrom insists that the chances are there and so, with a bit more luck, the tide will turn.
'We're dominating games and creating chances,' he commented. 'It's just the fine margins that we're not getting right, but the dressing room is positive.
'It's good to be back in the team, but we want to get a run going now with points on the board.
'Colchester is a tough place to go and they showed in August that they're hard to break down, but we'll be looking to get three points.'
