Yeovil's Performance 'Embarrassing'

Last night's 2-0 win over Yeovil was crucial for the U's, but it also spelt the end of a nine-game unbeaten run for the visiting Glovers who had picked up eight consecutive wins during that period.

Despite having the opportunity to move to the top of the table last night, such is the tightness at the top Gary Johnson's men instead looked to be heading out of the top six before Coventry picked up a 2-0 win at Bournemouth.

Speaking to the club's official website, Johnson believed his side had put in an embarrassing performance and said that the U's deserved to pick up the three points.

'We didn't show any of the innovation that we have been showing on the good run,' he conceded. 'Colchester were in our faces and shut us down early, but you think that it won't last.

'We gave them the goal which gives them a bit more power and the strength to keep going, and the first goal was always going to be important.

'We looked weak, the quality of our set-pieces wasn't good enough and, sometimes, you have to give credit to the opposition as, in their position, they deserved that result tonight.

'We have a lot more points than Colchester though and we have to realise we're still challenging. We'll hold our hands up for a poor performance but, no disrespect to Colchester, we've been playing a lot better than that recently and it was a bit of an embarrassing performance for us.'
