'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Will Ibehre Remain With The U's?

Jabo Ibehre picked up a host of Player of the Year awards at the U's end of season event on Tuesday night, but whether the affable forward will still be playing for the U's next season remains in doubt.

Ibehre impressed all during his time at the club and, having originally joined on loan from MK Dons upon Joe Dunne's appointment, he made the switch permanent in January.

The powerful front man continued to impress, showing astounding commitment, hold-up play and finishing the season with eight goals, as well as a hugely likeable personality that has endeared him to all.

However, his permanent switch was only until the end of the season, presumably as a safety net should the U's have dropped into League Two with League One offers on the table.

With that in mind, his future remains unsecured and there have been rumous in the past week that a return to his boyhood club Leyton Orient could be on the cards, where he racked up almost 250 appearances after coming through the youth system at Brisbane Road.

'I've been taking it each game as it comes,' he told BBC Essex before the trip to Carlisle. 'We'll see where we go from here - the main thing was to finish the season well.

'I never considered being a League Two player, so you're playing for your status and your livelihood. When you're up against it, you do what you have to do.'
