Dunne Snaps Up Eastmond

The U's made their first move of the summer yesterday when popular loanee Craig Eastmond signed a permanent two-year deal with Joe Dunne's side to make the switch from Arsenal.

Eastmond, twenty-two, was out of contract at the Emirates Stadium this summer and was set to be released alongside Sanchez Watt, another former U's loanee who may still be tempted to join his ex-Arsenal team mate in north Essex.

Speaking to the club's official website, Eastmond said: 'I enjoyed my time here on loan and now I just want to carry on where I left off. This is a place that feels good to me and one that has made me feel part of a family.'

With the U's squad last season made up of a number of loanees who have now returned to their parent clubs, the summer is set to be quite a busy one at the Weston Homes and this is a move that has certainly excited the support.

Eastmond's classy composure on the ball looked a step above during his previous spell at the club, and it will be exciting to see who he lines up alongside on the fresh summer pitches of August when the new season gets underway.

The signing is also a further boost to the U's future prospects, with a host of youngsters now set to excite the support; with Eastmond, Gavin Massey, Drey Wright, Alex Gilbey, Josh Thompson, Tom Eastman and Freddie Sears, there is a youthful nucleus for Dunne to build around.

If Watt can also join up alongside a few others, the future is beginning to look very bright indeed.
