Looking forward to Friday nights game at home against close rivals Ipswich Town, what a contrast September has been compared with August and how nice it is to see Geriant and Micks hard work paying off, after what seemed a rocky start to the season.
Geriant`s delight at the hard work being put in, and his contentment emanates through his interviews on Radio and TV, I was particularly impressed with the manager after the draw at Leicester, once a classy Welsh international midfielder, now an honest Manager expressing his delight at the draw but not content with only taking a point.
The football being played is a pleasure to watch. The team is adapting quickly to life in the division, attacking with flair and defending with grit.
However lessons are still being learnt with every game, long gone are the days of panic defending with everyone back and no outlet. Messrs Cureton and Iwelumo are a handful upfront, and I must say I was delighted to see that Greg Halford is still a U`s player, and if anyone was to question his commitment after the club refused to allow a six figure transfer to the Blades, how wrong they would have been.
It seems that the players are enjoying their football, Midfield Maestro Kevin Watson continues to pull the strings in the middle with his more than capable Lieutenant Kemal Izzet denying their opposite numbers any time or space.
Indeed whilst watching the Championship at the weekend, Kem was pictured with his Brother Muzzy, a cultured midfielder and Leicester City Legend, how I would have loved to see the Izzet brothers playing together in my beloved Blue and White Stripes, however with Muzzy`s retirement from the game that is something I will not experience.
How the tables have turned, I remember Kem once quoting that he was going to change his name from Kemal to "Muzzy`s Brother" and now that Muzzy has stepped out of the spot light, up has stepped a more than capable replacement.
Remember the Izzet that once played for Leicester? You know the one "Kemal`s Brother!!
