Ex-R's Youngster Joins U's

Former QPR midfielder Conor Hubble has signed up for the U's development squad having been told that he wouldn't be receiving a new deal with the Loftus Road side.

Hubble is local to the U's having been brought up in nearby Chelmsford, and the 18-year-old impressed for Richard Hall's side in a number of U21s games towards the end of last season, finding the net a couple of times too.

The former R's youngster joins Mason Spence in signing for the development squad, with the full back having been released by MK Dons before joining the U's. Like Hubble, Spence also featured for the U's U21s on multiple occasions last year as he sought a deal.

Described as an attack-minded midfielder who works hard from box to box, U's development coach Richard Hall explained to the official site that he expects the 18-year-old to prove an asset to the U's.

'He played well in all the games and I'm sure if he continues to work hard on his game, he will be an asset to us,' he explained.

With a number of promising youngsters coming through the U's ranks in their own right, it will certainly be interesting to see how the likes of Spence and Hubble develop alongside them.

It has been suggested by Hall elsewhere that Spence is expected to be challenging for the first team squad during the forthcoming campaign, and it would be fair to assume that Hubble may well be in the same boat.
