Principles and Priorities

Last weekend U`s fans were coming back from Leicester City, disappointed to have only taken a point.

Leicester City. Away from home. "Only" a point. We`re now unbeaten in five games. Things could be worse eh? All this big time mentality will start going to our heads. We`ll be going through managers quicker than an Irish golf-fan does Guinness. We`ll be watching expensive, fancy-dan foreign imports in the blue and white and munching on prawn sarnies, going quiet after 10 goalless minutes and getting all uppity.

Then again…

The last bit can`t be true surely and not only because of the catering (legally I have to call it that) at Layer Road. Once again U`s fans covered themselves in glory up at The Walkers Stadium.

Our recent results have come through the team`s perseverance and the manager`s bravery at sticking to his guns - and his principles. We`ve not panicked. We`re still playing football the way it should be played.

More than can be said of Friday`s opponents. Word is their latest tactic is not a formation or set-piece routine but antics that make Christiano Ronaldo look positively honest and upright - in both senses of the word. Winkers the lot of them.

Rules or results?

We`ve had our fair slice of luck though and ridden it at times. We had to fight tooth and nail at Luton to steal a point (sombrero time!) and the Mexican bandit idea was founded from a smash and grab at Burnley.

Despite on-pitch dominance we endured nervy final minutes against Derby and QPR too.

It`s local derby day today though. Our first proper game against Ipswich for nearly 40 years. If we have to push our luck again to get a win, we`d all gladly do so. One off Doogie`s backside in the 89th minute for 1-0? Yes please.

After Southend (twice) last season, we need a derby win just for local bragging rights.

If you think U`s fans have been loud up 'til now. Wait for the roar if (when!) we beat Ipswich today. They`ll be able to hear it back at Portman Road.

Hopefully we`ll do it the 'right` way but it`s all about principles and priorities isn`t it? Today, more than ever, the priority is the result.

Since we were unveiled as the loudest (read "best") fans in the country we`ve taken 11 points from 15. It clearly makes a difference!

Shout yourself silly for those Super U`s again!

Match Day Officials v Swindon

The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game against Swindon Town this weekend.

Unhappy Keeper Back With Norwich

Kean had come in on a 28-day from Norwich but his time at the Weston Homes Community Stadium is over with Keen confirming he was 'unhappy with a couple of things.'

Panicking? Not Yet!

Before the Southend game Keen insisted he wasn't panicking, despite the U's being seven-points adrift of safety. Three-goals in the final 10-minutes lead to another defeat of course.
