Williams Happy With Derby Day Point
Colchester manager Geraint Williams felt his side deserved their point and could have gone on to have won the game.
'I don't think anyone could deny we were worth a draw and with a little bit of luck we could have come away with all three points,' he said.
'We started the game very well, created some good chances and I don't think it was too much of a surprise when we went in front.
'It was only when they brought on big Dion Dublin at the back end of the game that they put us under any sort of pressure.'
Colchester fans were quick to point out that their side were the top team in East Anglia with Ipswich and Norwich below them in the league table, Williams commented: 'If they're still singing that song after 46 games I will be a very happy man.
'We gave an excellent account of ourselves tonight and we've sent thousands of Colchester fans home happy, but there's a long way to go yet.
'We'll enjoy this result tonight but then it will be back to work and we've got the small matter of playing the league leaders Cardiff at Layer Road to look forward to.'
