'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Stop the ride, I want to get off

Okay, enough now, stop. I want it to end. Whatever it is I`ve been drinking or however marvellous this dream is - enough.

I`m not a greedy person by nature, never have been. What we have now is plenty. I want to shout "bank", click save, "Final answer", - whatever. I want to hear Jim Bowen say: "Those prizes are safe."

We`re in the Championship; we`ve beaten Ipswich; we`re 11th in the table; we`re so close to getting our new stadium I can almost smell the fresh paint; we`ve just trounced Southend (without breaking sweat) and then there`s the small matter of both they and Hull being in the relegation zone.

Unlike many others, I don`t bear Phil Parkinson any malice. How can I? How can you hate the man who played a key part in getting us promoted, took us to Chelsea and brought a large number of the current team to Layer Road? That said, there would be a delicious irony in him leaving Colchester "to further himself" only to see us sat pretty whilst his moneyed Hull dropped back from whence we came.

I keep thinking this season cannot get any better. I was fully braced for defeat to Southend - again. After the first 45 minutes it almost seemed a likelihood. We`d hardly covered ourselves in glory and they were playing more like the home side.

But once again, things did get better. This season just reminds me more and more of the last. Novice manager, shocking start, squad looking paper-thin, favourites for relegation. Then comes the turn around.

Things can only get…?

Where do we go from here? If you said "down" then you`re probably a Hull fan reading this - or just a natural pessimist!
