Colchester Strikers Score Highly

With twenty-six goals to their name, it is no surprise that Jamie Cureton and Chris Iwelumo are the U's top performers so far this season.

Following the hectic Christmas and New Year programme, the Actim Index - the Official Player Ratings of the Coca-Cola Championship - has revealed that Curo and Chris have been the U's top men.

Cureton, the second highest ranked striker in the Index, has scored 13 goals in 27 appearances.

The 31-year-old has had 37 shots on goal, made 270 passes, 31 dribbles and 26 crosses. He has also assisted defensively with 23 successful tackles, 14 clearances and three interceptions.

Iwelumo is another striker performing consistently well for the U's.

The 28-year-old is the third highest ranked striker in the Index, scoring 13 goals so far this season. He has had 17 shots on target, made 234 passes and 15 dribbles.

Other Colchester United players who are ranked highly in the Actim Index are Karl Duguid (39th), Wayne Brown (45th) and Greg Halford (56th).

The Actim Index ranks players using Actim Stats according to their performance, both by position and overall.

Analysis of all Championship games is taking place throughout the league campaign and the top five Colchester United players at the half-way stage of the season are:

2nd Jamie Cureton (2nd Highest Ranked Striker) 462pts
3rd Chris Iwelumo (3rd Highest Ranked Striker) 441pts
39th Karl Duguid (9th Highest Ranked Midfielder) 313pts
45th Wayne Brown (14th Highest Ranked Defender) 308pts
56th Greg Halford (18th Highest Ranked Defender) 296pts

Actim Stats also revealed that after 27 games this season the following players are Colchester United's highest achievers in five areas of play: completed passes, completed crosses, dribbles, tackles won and most shots on target.

Greg Halford 48 completed crosses

Top Dribbler
Jamie Cureton 31 dribbles

Top Tackler
Pat Baldwin 79 tackles won

Most Shots on Target
Jamie Cureton 37 shots on target
