League Two Gets Late Final Day Kick Off
Yesterday the Football League confirmed that the final day fixtures for all League Two clubs in 2016/17 would kick off at 5.30pm.
The decision has been made to put kick offs back from 3pm on Saturday May 6 so that one key fixture in the final day fixture list can be screened by Sky Sports.
With one fixture (yet to be confirmed) set for screening at 5.30pm on the final day, all games will take place simultaneously so all sides involved in promotion and relegation this year can see their fates resolved fairly and concurrently with no side gaining an advantage.
League Two representative on the EFL Board, John Nixon, told EFL.com about the decision to stage all L2 games in the later timeslot.
'The final day of the regular season is always a tense and dramatic day for all supporters whether you are sitting in the stands or watching on TV. The change means more and more football fans up and down the country will now be able to see the season finale and witness first-hand the contribution League Two clubs have made to another fantastic campaign in the EFL.'
'It is also important that we are able to notify supporters of this change well in advance to allow plenty of time for any alterations to travel plans that may be required.'
