Return for Yeates?

Despite recently netting for Tottenham Hotspur during a reserve match against Arsenal, after returning from a loan spell at Hull, former U`s man Mark Yeates could make a surprise return to East Anglia before the transfer window closes on 31st January.

He was a key component of Phil Parkinson`s promotion side last season, and could extend Colchester United`s attacking options should any deal arise. The versatile player - a striker by trade, is able to provide cover out wide. His arrival would allow the U`s the option to revert to a favored 4-3-3 formation, with Chris Iwelumo and Greg Halford linking up in a three-pronged attack, employed last season on several occasions.

Yeates, who has been on loan at Hull City this season, made 52 appearances in total for Colchester, scoring 6 times, between August 2005 and May 2006.

The Spurs number 28 is highly thought of in London, and, should he return to Layer Road, it would be a dramatic U-turn from the Premiership club, who are keen to integrate him into top-flight level football.

am a spurs supporter, and live in colchester. would love to see the lad come down and help the U's make a suprise visit to the prem-league. only loan is a good deal as i dont think he really cuts it enough for the prem league and the Liitle Us can find better players if they get promotion

He hasn't been on loan at Brighton this season but I would like him to be! He did ok when he was with us 3 years back and certainly is Championship quality.

He was goodlast year, might help us now that Halford is on the way. Spurs wanted to devop his talent, but he need 1st team football, and those at Layer Drome would like him back for a while!
