Szmodics In Team Of The Week (12/12/17)

Szmodics In Team Of The Week (12/12/17)

Colchester United are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week's action.

The performance by Sammie Szmodics in the three one victory over Exeter City at the weekend at the Colchester Community Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we'll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Szmodics was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice - the FL blurb read.

'Szmodics struck twice and had a huge hand in Colchester United`s third, with the U`s seeing off Exeter City 3-1 at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. His deflected effort in the 23rd minute ultimately went down as a Troy Archibald-Henville own-goal, but there would be no doubts about the brace which would soon follow. Szmodics cooly slotted home a penalty kick, before grabbing his second with a sublime effort from the edge of the box.'

It's always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Szmodics for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

Sam Johnstone (Aston Villa), Josh Yorwerth (Crawley Town), Matt Clarke (Portsmouth), Dan Burn (Wigan Athletic), Cristian Montano (Port Vale), Jack Byrne (Oldham Athletic), James Maddison (Norwich City), Billy Bodin (Bristol Rovers), Kemar Roofe (Leeds United), Sammy Szmodics (Colchester United), David Ball (Rotherham United).

Manager - Nigel Adkins (Hull City).
