'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Richards loaned to Bees

Colchester United have let young defender Gary Richards go out on loan to Brentford for a month in a bid to re-capture his fitness.

The center-back, who has made so few starts this season due to injury, hopes to get first-team football by continuing his recovery on the road.

Virtually ever-present during the promotion season last term, Richards would get limited opportunities in Colchester at present, while Wayne Brown and Matthew Mills continue to form an impressive partnership at the back for the U’s. Bat Baldwin, now recovered from a virus, is also pushing for a place in the starting XI.

Richards will link up with former U’s players Joe Keith and Thomas Pinault in League One, while the Bees are managed by former U’s defender Scot Fitzgerald, who got the job earlier in the season.
