Iwelumo WON'T sign for Ipswich

An East Anglian Daily Times report has quashed terraced roomers linking Colchester`s Chris Iwelumo with an audacious move to rivals Ipswich, after Town boss Jim Magilton admitted that the 6 foot target-man "just isn`t for me."

Iwelumo, 28, has Championship 17 goals to his credit this season. What`s more, having scored 36 times since arriving in Essex in 2005, his Colchester total is greater than his record for all of his previous English employers combined.

Despite his prolific record in stripes, the Scot is out of contract this summer, although the news that he will not defect to the U`s nearby neighbours will delight the Layer Road faithful.

Chris, who has also had spells abroad in Denmark and his homeland, has previously indicated a desire to stay with Colchester, and is hopeful of securing a new deal before the start of the 2007/8 campaign.
