Colchester's Iwelumo for Scotland?

Reports in todays Telegraph suggest that Scotland manager Alex Mcleish may hand Colchester`s 6ft 4in striker his first international Cap for Scotland.

McLeish, speaking at the fundraising launch for the Marie Curie Cancer Care's proposed £16 million hospice in Glasgow, revealed that his assistants, Roy Aitken and Andy Watson, had watched the Iwelumo in action.

'We are looking at everybody at the moment. We have watched Chris Iwelumo and are monitoring his form. We are keen to run the rule over as many players as possible who are eligible for Scotland. I have said before that there is not much scope for radical change within the squad, but we still want to know who is out there'.

Scotland have no fixtures scheduled between the start of next season and their Euro 2008 double header at home to Lithuania and away to France in September. However, the Scots are likely to stage a home friendly away from Hampden Park, probably in Aberdeen or Edinburgh, on Aug 22.
