'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Pro Conracts For Youngsters

Colchester United have handed professional contracts to three of their youth team players.

Defender Tom Devaux, midfielder Anthony Wordsworth and striker Tom Webb, all from the Under 18 squad, have been awarded deals.

'Hopefully it will be the start of a fairytale career in football for all three of the lads but the easy bit is over and the hard work starts here,' assistant boss Mick Harford told the club's website.

'They have all worked very hard to get to this stage but there is still a lot of development left in all three of them.

'Woody is very good technically and can do both sides of things you want from a midfielder getting forward and helping the defence out when needed.

'Webby is an intelligent forward who gets himself in good positions and is also good technically while Tom Devaux has the attributes to mature into a very good centre-half for us.'
