Colchester United lost against promotion rivals Stoke City 3-1 yestereday, having been in the lead for the best part of 55 minutes thanks to a Chris Iwelumo penaly.

The U's will now aim for 7th place but can only make the play-offs if they thrash Crystal Palace next Sunday and both Stoke and Southampton lose to QPR and Soundend respectivly.

Colchester conceeded three times, from Russell, Sidibe and then Higginbotham in the space of 10 frantic minutes.

A 7th plae finsih would be a great return for the side's first season in the championship.
