Wayno Wows Williams

Colchetser United manager Geraint Williams has taken time to return praise to central defender Wayne Brown, after the 29-year old player tipped his boss to scoop the division`s Manager of the Year award earlier this week.

Of Brown, who has completed all 45 Championship games, as well as one each in FA and League Cup, Williams commented: "He's stayed in the team because he's been playing well. He's had an excellent season for us, but he knows he still has to keep working hard."

This lavish praise was heaped upon Brown, in the wake of what Colchester`s vie-captain said about the man who runs the Layer Road show.

Referring to Williams in an interview on Tuesday, Brown said: "He's well-respected in the game and he's well-respected by all the lads."

He went on to state that Williams, who took charge of Colchester United last summer after Phil Parkinson`s departure, was a candidate for the Manager of the Year award, made next week.

The Welsh boss is defiantly in the running, although was less sentimental about allowing Brown to achieve his own personal goal of playing every minute in the club`s maiden season at this level, adding: "If he [Brown] does something to upset me with a minute to go then he still knows what will happen."

Yes, I agree. Keano is George's Manager of the Year, and I think it's between those two.
