Williams: No Mass Of Exits

Colchester duo Chris Iwelumo and Richard Garcia have both insisted that they will not be rushed into signing new contracts with the club - that`s despite their current deals expiring in the summer.

The U`s do not wish to lose Garcia, scorer of seven goals last season, or Iwelumo, who netted 18.

Apart from these players, insists manager Gheriant Willimas, there will not be a mass exodus of departures.

'It's not that we haven't been discussing terms with both players,' Williams told the East Anglian Daily Times.

"Negotiations have been going on for some time, because we were aware of the situation.

"But these are the only two out of contract, which makes a change from previous years, when we have often had several players out-of-contract in the summer."

you lose Chris and you will go down the same road as Luton did this year I am sure of that ! can you afford to turn down the bids from other clubs when they come though?

But we lost Halford, who is finally starting to impress at Reading, and still finsihed just off the top six. People always write the U's off; but no, we can't afford to reject good bids, not with the new stadium on the way, at least. Second season, as they say, is supposed to be the hardest!

Keith Southern at Blackpool could be an ideal replacement for Big Chris if he goes; it's all, in my opinion, a matter of wage money.
