Iwelumo Looks Set For Charlton

Colchester United`s official website exclusively revealed this morning that Scottish striker Chris Iwelumo declined their "competitive" offer of a new contract by letter on Friday, virtually sealing a move to Charlton Athletic, which, many papers say, is due to be unveiled today.

The club have been trying to get Iwelumo, scorer of 37 goals for the club since 2005, to re-sign since Christmas, although Colchester`s Chief Executive Marie Partner alluded this morning that the talks have now ceased.

She said: "After talks with Chris, we officially sent out his offer of further engagement as normal, which he declined by hand delivering a letter late on Friday.

"The club has made every effort to put a competitive package on the table to Chris over the past few weeks.

"However, he has turned down the club`s offer and we await to hear of his further plans."

He's gone; he's signed for Charlton! I'm absolutly devestated that he has gone. He's joined Parky at Charlton; I don't want to believe it!
