Vernon Can't Wait For Return

Former Colchester United striker Scott Vernon has revealed he is relishing the chance to return to the town next season following Blackpool`s promotion to the Coca-Cola Championship.

The striker, who was in line to join the U`s before Phil Parkinson`s prorated exit last summer, has now guided 'pool to promotion as they clinched a victory in the play-off final at Wembley over Yeovil Town last Sunday.

As Vernon, who came on a sub during that game, said in the Colchester Evening Gazette yesterday: "I've kept my eye on
Colchester all season.

'I think Geraint Williams has done a great job there and will continue to do so.

'They've not made too many changes since I played for them and it's all about continuity.

'I'm looking forward to coming up against them next season.'

Many think that he may yet return to Layer Road before the fixture list dictates, because fans are optimistic that the scorer of 14 goals during the season just ended may replace the recently departed Chris Iwelumo.
