'One game at a time`- Williams

Despite doubts over Colchester United`s first opponent of their second in the Coca-Cola Championship season following Thursday`s fixture announcements, manager Gheriant Williams has vowed to take things "one game at a time."

The Welshman, who will lead his side to a newly-relegated outfit for the second consecutive season in August, has said it does not matter who the U`s end up with.

"As far as I`m concerned, we will be getting the squad ready for a trip to Sheffield United, just as we were planning a trip last year to St. Andrews," he said yesterday in the Colchester Evening Gazette. If United do face them it will be the third time the two teams have met in as many years.

The confusion over the first fixture will be resolved on Monday, when West Ham United and Sheffield battle it out in the whiteness box.

Both will be contesting respective cases involving the reportedly illegal registration of forward Carlos Tevez, whose reportedly illegal registration document should have resulted in a docking of points, and subsequent relegation, for the London side.

On the matter, Colchester`s Williams said: "The West Ham situation is out of our hands, but plying against any team that was in the Premiership last season is sure to be a tough test for us."

He continued: "Wherever you look the fixture list is paced with big names and big games; everyone has their own favourites."

Playing an ex premiership side will be tough, but there confidence will be hit, you could go in there and pull a win out of the bag. This tevez thing is a nightmare

Perhaps. They gave a good account of themselves this time last year when they played Birmingham a year ago and it might work this time!
