'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Karl`s Call To Arms

Colchester United skipper Karl Duguid has called upon everyone connected with the club to retain the positive belief that propelled them to tenth place in the Championship last season, claming they are ready to repeat the feat again.

Putting things into perspective, he told the EADT: "This time last year, we didn't even have a manager, so it's not that bad!"

Duguid, who has served the club with faith and excellent commitment for well over a decade, added: "It happens everywhere, clubs losing players at this time of year, and especially to the smaller clubs like Colchester United."

Of this, U`s fans are keenly aware. Yet, despite a summer of upheaval and change in Colchester United, 25% more season tickets have been sold, and Duguid, for one, maintains a positive mental attitude.

Duguid again: "The gaffer will be working to bring in new players I'm sure, especially up front and maybe in midfield. He will also probably be looking for a new left-back."

"Our second season in the Championship was always going to be more difficult than the first. But we are up for the challenge," he also said.

Let`s hope, then, that the fans bracing themselves for the ride, too.

Have to say the season ticket figure is excellent news!

As a % of Layer Road, the rise isn't all that, and I expect the tickets were sold when we still had a squad; but still, money is money for the club!
