Sheringham to sign?

Media reports tonight suggest that former West Ham, Manchester United and England striker Teddy Sheringham WILL sign for Colchester this week as Player Coach.

Sheringham 41 and surplus to requirments at Upton Park is said to be keen to continue his 23 lucritive proffesional career, and would be a great asset to Layer road as a Player and a Coach.

U's Chief Executive spoke today after the signing of Mark Yeates and Clive platt stating: "These are the first two signings (Yeates and Platt) in what will be a very busy campaign in securing the club's squad for next season's push in the Championship.

'And there is a great deal of exciting news to come."

Things are starting to look up here in North Essex the change in mood can be felt here where I sit 12 miles away from Layer Road.

Many U`s fans have been patient waiting for news of signings and up until today they must have been biting their nails and wondering whether the ramblings of former players and their insitance that the club has shown no ambition was indeed true.

With Mrs Partner stating'And there is a great deal of exciting news to come.' and with actions already speaking louder than any words it is blatentley obvious that these particular former players measure a clubs ambition in the amount of 'Zeros' contained in the wage offer of any new contract, something which is paramount to holding the club to ransome.
