Chairman Steps Down

Peter Heard has stepped down as Chairman of Colchester United with owner Robbie Cowling taking over.

Robbie Cowling has taken up the reins as the new Chairman with Mr Heard staying as a consultant while Colchester await their new 10,000 seat stadium.

Mr Heard joined the board in 1991 whilst the team was fighting to get back into the Football League after spending two seasons in the Conference.

He became Chairman in 1998 and under his tenure the club have gone from strength to strength.

Mr Heard has also been offered the post of Life President in honour of his acheivements a post which was last granted to Maurice Cadman who sadly passed away last month.
