Platt: I`ll Be Worth Weight In Goals

Colchester United`s record signing Clive Platt has pledged to stamp his mark on the Championship next term as he bids to justify the reported £300,000 outlay splashed by manager Geraint Williams.

The former MK Dons man has however pleaded in tonight`s Colchester Evening Gazette for the fans to have patience as he adapts at a higher level and also asked that he is not compared to the now departed Chris Iwleumo.

Platt told the Colchester Evening Gazette "I'm playing at a higher level but the goals don't move.

"Last year was the best I've had in front of goal and I've learned a lot from that," added the 6-foot man, who chalked up 18 goals.

Of Iwelumo and Jamie Cureton, who netted a combined 41 league goals last season, Platt was praiseworthy, but insisted he will not try to emulate them.

"They scored a lot of goals last season and they did brilliantly - but they're both different to me. I just want to score as many goals as possible and do the best I possibly can."

Just needs to jump for every ball and cause a nuisance like Big Chris did and he should do well!

Yeh. At least we're got anuva big man up front. Should make a difference.
Rob_CU
Having a big man up top is WiG's way of staying true to the club's style of play. Hope he does well.

I think we need a striker with a bit of pace and who will run in behind, then we should be good.
