Col U: Platt Ban Stands
The official Colchester United website, as backed by reports across the local press, have reported that the FA decided not to overturn the mandatory three-game band dished out to forward Clive Platt following a sending off last weekend.
Platt, the club’s record buy from MK Dons, had been looking for a reprieve, but the ban will stand despite the U’s being informed that they had decent grounds for an appeal against the decision that marred Saturday’s friendly against Premiership side Bolton.
The better news is that, although Platt must serve the suspension, he will be available for selection for the club’s away trip to Sheffield United, and the League Cup tie against Shrewsbury Town.
The striker will then be required to sit the next two league games, and any prospective cup opponents if Colchester beat Shrewsbury, to finish his unexpected time in the sin bin.
