Curo Puts Boot In

Colchester United have been upset by the recent claims by former marksman Jamie Cureton that he wants to secure another Golden Boot – this time for new club and East Anglian rivals Norwich City.

The 32-year-old, scorer of four goals over the past week and currently top of the Championship goal charts, has set a target to repeat the feat that made him a terraced idol at Layer Road for nigh on two years when the U’s salvaged his previously flagging career.

After netting 24 in all competitions for Colchester during 2006-7, and finishing as the Championship’s leading light, Cureton said this weekend that he wants a third Golden Boot of his professional life to the collection.

His comments are contentious because of Cureton’s abrupt and unexpected exit from Layer Road last summer, where he claimed that the Essex side were lacking ambition before attempting to dictate the eventual transfer fee for his return to Carrow Road.

“It’s been a hell of a week,” said Cureton on Saturday. “I could not have asked for much more. I’ve got three Golden Boots, another one would be great,” he added.

U’s fans are sure to give a very vocal take on events when Colchester meet Norwich at Layer Road this winter, on December 15th. The resentment, seemingly, still runs deep.

I have no respect for him, and i guess many other U's followers feel the same!

He treated the FC badly and when the sides meet again we'll be letting him know it!

Although I understand you guys are no longer JC fans after what happened during the summer (it doesn't matter which club he would've been at, he always wanted to come back to Norwich one day), I'm not quite sure what the problem is with him wanting another Golden Boot? Surely that's his job...
