Kevin Lisbie says he has the taste of scoring following Saturday’s victory for Colchester over Preston where the 28-year-old netting his first competitive strike for the club.
The former Charlton man admitted his frustration at being injured on the opening day after such a good run in pre-season but yesterday told the EADT that the set-back might have been “a blessing in disguise.”
The forward played less than half an hour of his competitive debut against Barnsley at Layer Road before he being sacrificed when stopper Dean Gerken got a red card.
On his ankle problem, Lisbie said: “I wasn’t fit. But it’s feeling better now.”
“I’m delighted to have got off the mark so early. I rate myself as pretty good in the air, at least in the box. I know I can score at this level – the move will benefit me.”
Lisbie praised Aidan Davison for his clean sheet, conceding that the keeper “could not even walk properly due to injury” when he arrived at the club, and also joked that George Elokobi should change position following another superb assist.
“I’ve told George he might as well play on the left wing! His crosses are so good,” said Lisbie. Elokobi has now delivered two great crosses in the last two games and is in superb form.
