City Post: Curo 'Like Northern Rock'

City Post: Curo 'Like Northern Rock'

One posting by a member on a popular Norwich message-board has slammed Jamie Cureton`s contribution to City`s cause so far this season by claiming that his value to the team is as unpredictable as "Northern Rock shares."

Former Colchester United forward Cureton, 32, is about to face an eight-week lay-off with an ankle injury and could controversially make his comeback in to the starting XI for the clash between the East Anglain rivals at Layer Road on December 15th. It would be the first time Cureton has been to the ground since his contentious comments about a supposed 'lack of ambition in the U`s camp.'

By December of this year, though, the Canaries will have a new manager, with Peter Grant, now departed, having come under increased pressure to find goals, and points, over the next eight weeks. Without Cureton, who had scored four goals in ten games since completing his £850,000 move across the region, that may prove altogether harder.

"We'll assess Jamie over the next two weeks," said Grant last week before his contract was terminated by mutural consent. "He'll definitely be out for the next couple of weeks. If you look at his ankle now, it could be six or eight weeks. Jamie could be long term. It came out of nothing from a kick."
