Lisbie In Penalty Controversy

Colchester ace Kevin Lisbie admitted the U`s were fortunate to get a penalty in yesterday`s 3-1 derby defeat at Ipswich, despite the fact that the in-form Mark Yeates went on to miss the kick in a weak effort that was saved.

Jamaican International Lisbie went down when one-on-one with Ipswich 'keeper Neil Alexander, who received a yellow card for the incident, before Irishman Yeates failed to convert the penalty as Town ran out clear winners.

Post-match, Lisbie told The Evening Gazette: "The goalkeeper did touch me but I don`t think it was a penalty."

Town fans may well feel justice was done.

Definite dive! I was fuming when he give it. He obviously went looking for one as well as a man advantage by taking the keeper on.
Tractor Ben
well, the save galvanised you to win the match, so it worked out. And it was right that the keeper only got a yellow, in that case.

Too true Matt I dont want to win like that, its one reason I hate thei Alan Lee he is such a cheat.
Deeno
Bad memories last season - he seemed to be going down all the time in the last derby. But we got a lucky pen that dau too, and Iwelumo did his magic jig... *sigh*

Dive or no-dive, the ref thought it was a pen. the laws of the game state that the last man has to go, why didn't he?
StevieG Col U
If he thought it was a pen, that must mean he thoight it was denial of a clear goalscoring opportunity. In which case, as the keeper brought him down, you are quite right!
