'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Coach: More Stars To Come

A new youth-team coach at Colchester United has told the local press today that "the structure is in place" at for the Essex side to enable them to produce the next breed of Mark Kinsella, Greg Halford or Lomana LuaLua.

Newly-appointed Mel Jefferies says in today`s Colchester Evening Gazette: "The idea is to ensure progression from under-nine right through to first-team level.

'That's the ideal scenario and there are a couple of players in our system who have the potential to do that,' he added.

'We've seen it before and there are players at Colchester who are talented enough. Having that history and having always been noted for giving youth a chance means there's always a link."
