'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Money available for players

Speaking in today's Evening Gazette, Colchester Chairman and Owner Robbie Cowling has said that he is ready to back Geriant Williams when the transfer window reopens in January

He did however, warn that the club will not spend for the sake of it and only players who will improve the squad will be added.

He told the Gazette: 'We're always looking for ways to strengthen the squad and the communication between the board at Colchester United and the management is first class. But we have to ensure that we identify and bring in players who are at least better than what we have already got.

'We also have to be able to attract them to Colchester United.

'There are lots of things that we are doing at this club that will make it a more attractive proposition for future players.

'But we have to remember that we have a good set of pros at the club already.

'They're tremendous and are getting results so we'll not be foolish.'

'We have a good squad and in some ways I think the team spirit has been even better this season,' Cowling said. 'I'm very pleased with the performances so far.

'I don't think that there has been a game where we've not been competitive. We've been absolutely stunning away from home.

'Without wanting to bleat too much, I think we've been a bit unfortunate at home.

'But the character of the players has been great so far this season.'

How much do you think you'll need to spend to get out of danger?
BlindJak
Possibly nothing - if the lads go on a smilar run to last season, then money will not be an issue. It's like an qutomatic response of the fans to moan and say that money is the answer when things are down. I think we do need a creative midfielder - i.e. like Hogan Ephram - and an experience CB to replace the as yet not-replaced Wayne Brown.

Good to see you will be getting some cash to get you further up the table.

... don't agree about the striker, because we've got Virgo. Just extend his loan.
Matt_Us
He ain't an out and out striker though...
StevieG Col U
true. Let's see who is avaliable on the market!
Matt_Us
Yeah, we need another pacy striker. Who do you think Matt?
StevieG Col U
Kandol, from Leeds?
Matt_Us
Is he pacy? I thought he was a big man who played as a target man?
