Derry Due To Face Col U

Crystal Palace today strengthened their squad ahead of the weekend`s clash against Colchester by signing Shaun Derry from Leeds United.

The midfield man is expected to slot straight in to the squad as Neil Warnock admitted he was short of bodies prior to his sides` visit to Layer Road.

Warnock will be hoping that Derry brings the same bit to the table as was on view when Palace ended the U`s faint hopes of making the Premiership play-off places with a win on the last day of the 2006/7.

"At the moment we are short of bodies around the place so I have moved to get Shaun in this week," Warnock told the official Palace website today.

"I was impressed with Shaun's appetite to come down and play for us and he will be vital over the next few weeks as we all work together to move in the right direction."

Warnock never came to Layer Road then, it was played at Bramell Lane.
