McCarthy: U's Were Better Team

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy admitted his side escaped as they climbed to 4th in the Championship following an underserved 1-0 home victory over Colchester last night.

The U`s hit the post through Mark Yeates and fellow midfielder Kem Izzet also saw his shot back off the post in the dying minutes. McCarthy`s side won it though, through Stephen Elliott who headed in from close-range.

McCarthy said: "We`ve played great at times this season and got nowt and tonight we played lousy and got three points.

'So am I happy? Yes! We got away with murder but let`s give Colchester some credit.

"They never let us get a tempo going and had some players that caused us problems. But we won the game, Stephen Elliott got the goal and we kept another clean sheet," he added.
