Watson - We Blew It Against U's

Plucky Colchester United dumfounded Sheffield Wednesday skipper Steve Watson by ending their six-game unbeaten run on Saturday.

The experienced man could not explain how exactly they contrived the game, as said post-match: "We couldn't have been in much better spirits after the good run we'd had.

"We have to treat every game the same way. We're not good enough to take anyone lightly, so we prepared properly."

After confessing that he didn`t know why Wednesday had performed so poorly, Watson said: "We`ve totally blown it."

Teddy Sheringham`s goal inside the first minute knocked the stuffing out of Sheffield side that had kept clean sheets in the past three games, before George Elokobi added to the tally.

Wednesday could not fight back, Akpo Sodje's fifth goal of the season being a mere consolation.
