Bristol City 1 - 1 Colchester

Colchester United will return to Essex tonight with a well earned point after leaving Bristol all square.

Colchester travelled to Bristol with new signing's Chris Coyne and Phil Ifil making their debuts for the Essex side after their transfers from Luton and Spurs on Thursaday.

The U's started the game brightly and within minutes Kevin Lisbie opened the scoring for Colchester and Lisbie could have added a further two shortly after, only to be tharwted by the home sides Brazilian goal keeper.

City came further into the game as the half wore on, and the Colchester new boys did more than was asked of them as Colchester defended resolutley, however City were soon level.

City continued to take the game to Colchester and had a good appeal fro a penalty turned down along with a goal ruled out after a late flag from the linesman.

However Colchester and particularly Kevin Lisbie were proving a handful at the other end however the game finished all square.

Both sides had chances to seal the points in the second half.

Dean Gerken had to leave the field after saving at the feet of the attacker being replaced by the more than capable Cousin.T

The Colchester defence continued to work hard shutting the door on the City Attack.

Jackson had a shot saved and with Lisbie being denied a stone wall penalty at the death, a draw seemed a fair result although both teams had chances to win it.

Nice point Colchester ... I bet there were a lot of Colchester fans in Birmingham last night.. You've given the Baggies a bit of breathing space...One win and you are out of the bottom three.. come on fellas you can do it ..

Looks to have been a good result given that many teams have fallen thier this season!

Well I went down there and was well worth it, Coyne looked very good, just like Wayne Brown used too. Lisbie got tugged back right at the death should have been a pen, but both teams could have won it.

Seems things are looking good again. Get the U's up the table!

Yeates is out of form when we get him purring again we will be even better. 2 home wins all season is a bit worrying though.

Compare that to last season and it's even worse!!

Another Good Result Following On From The Win At Charlton...Maybe I Underestimated Your Chances Of Avoiding The Drop...Hope So...!
