The U`s host Swindon Town tonight at the start of a home-double header which will define their season.
Colchester are now unbeaten for four matches and can be confident of getting all three points against the relegation-battlers.
Swindon have not won in their last four outings, and United really have to win in order to stand any chance of making the top-six this term.

"We are still there in with a chance of the play-offs. That's what the gaffer has told us, and a couple of results went our way over the weekend," stand-in goalie, Mark Cousins, who replaced loan stopper Jimmy Walker, tells the EADT.
"Colchester have had some bad results there [at the Weston Homes Community Stadium] and only in the last couple of weeks they`ve been beaten a couple of times at home," Town`s manager, Danny Wilson, who plans an all-out attack tonight against the U`s, in today`s Swindon Advertiser.
Paul Reid (keen) is out for the rest of the season, and United will have two half-fit backs playing tonight, with Pat Baldwin (ankle) and Chris Coyne (lacking match practice) set to start one more after Saturday`s clean-sheet.
Although Mark Cousins had only three key saves to make on Saturday, he should also keep Dean Gerken out tonight`s XI, behind the defence.
Johnnie Jackson is also shot of match fitness, like Coyne, but could be needed since Mark Yeates and Lewis Gobern have niggling injuries.
Jackson resumed training on Friday, while Yeates and Gobern both missed Satuday`s match. Defender John While can expect to be named on the bench, while Steven Gillespie looks set to keep his place in attack with Clive Platt, at Scott Veron`s expense.
U's Squad: Cousins, Gerken; White, Baldwin, Coyne, Tierney, Maybury; Yeates, Gobern, Hackney, Izzet, Hackney, Hammond, Perkins, Corcoran, Platt, Gillespie, Wasiu, Vernon.
An eye for goal means that Perkins will be looking to impress tonight; he hasn`t scored since January but should be the answer to the U`s goal scoring concerns.
Owain Tudur-Jones, signed from Swansea Town on loan, will make his debut, but the side are without Patrick Kanyuka (groin), Lee Peacock (back), Craig Easton (calf) and Jon-Paul McGovern (ankle). There are also a number of other players to have late faintness tests.
The striker debuts tonight and has pledged to do well for Town to further his international chances with Wales. He has three caps.
