V Yoville (A) - Preview

NOBODY WILL STOP talking about promotion this season at Colchester United this season, not that the U`s can make it now.

But this fixture inevitably bring back memories of the last time the U's went to Hush Park, in need of at least a point to secure elevation to the Championship.

This season`s version, some three years later, is a nothing game. Yeovil and Colchester both have nothing to play for, although both sides have said the squads are playing for their future contracts next term.

On Monday, several Colchester United players will face the facts over thier future at the club. Until then, all that's left to do is sit back and enjoy the last game of the 2009/10 season.

Vital Quotes:

Yeovil player-manager Terry Skiverton on BBC Points West expalins while he'll be taking the game seriously:: "It`ll probably be chance to thank the people that have done so well over the last month. I'm not all of a sudden going to rest everyone that's done really well for me and play loads and loads of kids.

Colchester manager Paul Lambert said on BBC Essex why his side must go for the win today:: "We want to go there and put in a big effort because the fans will have travelled a long way so we owe them a performance.

I'm planning for next season, and there'll be quite a lot of change. The league table shows we just haven't been good enough this season."

"That's not saying thank you to the fans for staying with us and it's not being respectful to the players that have done well and the ones that have to wait their turn.

Yoville Town Team News:

SkipperDean Hammond and defedner Alan Maybury are all in-line for recalls after suspension and recovering from injury respectively, while Scott Vernon returns from a loan spell at Northampton.

It could be Vernon`s last game in a U`s shirt tomorrow. He is suspected as one of around a dozen players to be told he is surplus to requirements at the club. Johnnie Jackson is also in the squad.

Young trainee defender, Sam Corcoran, likely to win professional terms over the next few weeks, is in line for a full debut while Lewis Gobern is also fit again.

Colchester will however be without David Perkins, Steve Gillespie and Paul Reid.

Player to watch: Keiran Murtagh

The 20-year-old midfielder is fast becoming indispensible to the home side and will be one of the first names on the team sheet next season for the Glovers, according to their manager.

Colchester United Team News:

Terry Skiverton, player-manager, has a foot injury. David Noble, loaned, is also a doubt. Terrell Forbes will return to the host`s squad.

Player to watch: Everyone!

Lambert will want a good, fast-paced performance to end the season and wants decent displays from the whole playing even and substitutes.

Dean Hammond should get a huge cheer following his player of the season award and winger Mark Yeates will probably be as potent as usual.
