Joe's Job Dunne? - Gillingham Preview

IS THIS Joe Dunne`s last game in charge?

The third cup meeting between Gillingham and Colchester United inside a year bodes well for the away side as they`ve won all of them.

The EADT newspaper says the club`s impending manager, Aidy Boothrood, could be in the away crowd tonight as the U`s will probably make several changes from the side that lost narrowly to Leeds last weekend.

Vital Quotes:

Dunne: Ironic End To My Spell

Joe Dunne, caretaker, on his spell that starts and ends with the same team, in the EADT:' I am in charge at Gillingham, but after that a new manager will come in. It's amazing that I started against Gillingham, and will end it against Gillingham. There will be one or two changes, and injuries mean that it won't be the strongest team we could put out."

Gillingham Team News:

Captain Barry Fuller is out for the Gills and so are long-term injury-victims Simon King and Stuart Lewis.

Player to watch: Garry Richards

Since it's hard to know who will feature in a game like this, an ex-Colchester player, in Richards, will do. Looked impressive when playing against the U's at home two weeks ago.

Colchester United Team News:

U's defender Lee Beevers is out still injured and duo Marc Tierney and Pat Baldwin have knocks and could miss out. Fellow defender, Paul Ried and striker Seven Gillespie are also still out long-term.

Player to watch: Scott Vernon

Vernon has been in fine form so far this season and if he starts, will be a main goal-threat for the U's.
