Ask U`s - Norwich -vs- U`s: Q & A

Earlier in the week we caught up with Vital Norwich editor The Guru and got his thoughts on Norwich City, Kevin Lisbie, and this afternoon's Carrow Road curtain raiser.

Q: Kevin Lisbie and Jamie Cureton could both face-off against their former teams at the start of the 2009/10 season this weekend. Who do you reckon will come up trumps?

Realistically I'd be surprised if Curo starts but he'll probably get 20 minutes. Lisbie is bound to be the U's main threat and our centre halves aren't exactly blessed with pace so if he can turn them round he may have some joy. I'm expecting (hoping) Michael Nelson will boot him six-feet up in the air early doors!

Q: You haven`t signed either Clive Platt nor Phil Ifil as yet this summer, despite the speculation linking them with City. Silly season stupidity, or players you`d actually like?

Not fussed about either of them to be quite honest. We needed someone who can hold the ball up which I guess is where the Platt thing came from, and we ended up with Grant Holt so overall I couldn't be happier with that!

Q: Our Vital website called your bid for Platt "audacious" in a headline because he is a target-man who our manager wishes to keep, but didn't it caused quite a stir on your forum...?

I think a few of our members found the headline quite amusing - after all, it's Clive Platt we're talking about here - but I wouldn't say it caused a 'stir'. More rather mild bemusement.

Q: City Vs U`s - a phoney rivalry or the real deal?

It's the closest thing we've got to a derby until whenever we play Ipswich again, so I can see it getting bigger if we're both in the same league for a while.

Q: Colchester found out on the first day of last season with an away 4-2 defeat that divine right to a Championship return doesn`t exist in League One. Do you expect to go up?

In a word, yes. We have to. Anything other than promotion will be a seen as a failure, and rightly so in my view.

Q: Our Assistant, Ian Culverhouse, used to play for you and is in your Hall of Fame but often takes stick from your fans. What`s it all about?

Pass. Really don't know I'm afraid.

Q: Who will make the difference for you?

I think Wes Hoolahan will have a very important part to play tomorrow. He's had an excellent pre-season and on his day must surely be one of the best players in the division.

Q: The summer signings at City - pleased or perturbed?

Overall I'd have to say I'm pleased. Very pleased. I hadn't heard of many of them before they joined, but to quote a very good Norwich City writer I hadn't heard of most of the players who outclassed us last season either!

Q: Is Bryan Gunn the right manager for you guys?

I think we'll find out by Christmas whether or not Bryan Gunn is.

I didn't necessarily think he was the right choice when he was first given the job, but we're all 100% behind him now and as long as the results and performances are going our way I think it'll stay like it.

Q: Go all Mystic Meg on us - predict a score...?

City 2 Colchester 0

So what do you think?
